One of the best natural remedies is definitely thyme. It’s a very effective and extremely powerful disinfectant which you can use like a wash (externally) or to fight off any infection (internally). It’s often used to remove any cold or the flu as well as to treat various oral infections as well as sore throat.
Another thing you can do is prepare some nice tea that will help you against chest complaints and coughs, but you can also use it to prepare antifungal remedies. It is abundant in antioxidants and has the effect of a tonic.
Here, we’re presenting you a syrup made with thyme that will help you against coughs and colds instantly!
Ginger Thyme Cough Syrup
- 2 handfuls fresh thyme
- ¾ of a cup of raw honey
- 1 and a ½ cups of water (you may also add more, depending on how thick you would like it to be)
- 1 knuckle of minced ginger
Combine the ginger and the thyme into a pot. Add the water and leave it to boil. Simmer the mixture for 5 or 10 minutes. Add the honey very slowly. Then leave the syrup to rest from 30 to 60 minutes. Strain it afterwards. Store it in glass jars or bottles. There are some experts who advise us not to heat up honey, so you can also add it in the end. The filtered syrup should be heated again. Leave it to boil. After that, leave it to cool down. Transfer it into bottles or jars and keep it in the fridge.
Adults should take from 3 to 5 tablespoons a day.
