We all have some strong people in our lives that have gone through a storm and got out largely unscathed. They are our heroes. Facing everything life throws at you is incredibly hard, yet some people do it with a smile on their face. However, although they might look strong on the inside, they are soft and crumbly within.
The truth is that even the strongest people need support sometimes. We often believe they can’t be hurt, scared or broken, but they can. Just like us, they have a vulnerable side too, yet they choose not to show it very often. Just because they don’t shed a tear, though, doesn’t mean they don’t need a shoulder to cry on sometimes.
We never stop for a second and think – “How do they feel?” They look all strong and we think that they can go through everything. We regard them as our rock and they never fail. How could anything bring them down? Well, it can. Those bottled emotions they don’t show can make them implode and they’ll need you to help.
They truly deserve it. How many times they’ve helped you when you needed support the most? You were weak and they held your hand through the storm and you should thank them for it. They will never ask for a “Thank you”, but you better make sure to be there for them when they need it. Just because they’re strong it doesn’t mean they’re not allowed to be weak. They are not without emotions – they just prefer to suffer in silence. They soldier on and stare in the face of challenge, but sometimes, it’s just too much to bear. When their world is crumbling apart, they’ll need you to be there and be a shoulder they can cry on.
What, you thought they don’t have emotions so they’re calm during a storm? They do suffer too just like the rest of us. They can persevere on their own, but that doesn’t mean they have to. They helped you through a crisis, so why not help them? When the going gets tough, they need to find inner balance as well, and you can be their guide. Of course, they’ll never admit it. They’ll act all strong and try to do it on their own. That’s where you need to jump in and help them back on their feet. They helped you in the past, and now it’s time to return the favor.
