The skin is the largest and at the same time most sensitive organ on the body. It has a protective role and protects us from harsh external factors such as UV rays from the sun, pollution and other factors. Besides these factors, however, the skin can also be harmed by various skin-care products which are full of chemicals and toxins that can easily ruin your skin’s moisture and elasticity. This includes the body lotions, soaps, shower gels and perfumes you often buy.
On the other hand, our genes also play a part in our skin’s health. Some health conditions and a poor diet can also cause various skin problems such as skin tags, warts, moles, acne, clogged pores, etc. All of these problems can be treated with commercial products or a trip to the doctor, but due to the fragile nature of our skin, it’s best to treat them naturally. Luckily, there are many remedies that can help and we have a list of the best ones below.
Warts are caused by the human papilloma (HPV) virus and appear in the form of small bumps on the skin. The usual treatment includes surgery or cryotherapy, but there are different ways of making them fall off.
For example, rubbing a banana peel every night before sleeping will shrink the warts in only 2 weeks. Honey is a great idea as well – just rub some on them, cover with plastic wrap, then leave the nectar to work overnight. Garlic is great as well. You need to cut a clove in half and rub it on your warts, then apply a bandage over it and leave it to act overnight. Finally, rubbing a cotton pad soaked in ACV is considered the best solution, and should get rid of your warts in just a few weeks.
Moles are a result of either genetics or excessive sun exposure. They can be removed naturally in a variety of ways. Just like with warts, ACV can help against moles as well. The procedure is the same – apply the liquid with a cotton pad or ball and leave it on overnight. Garlic (or garlic extract) seems to work great as well – just make sure to surround the area with masking tape and cover with plastic wrap to keep the clove or extract in place.
Finally, mix some castor oil and baking soda then use the mixture on the moles every night before going to bed. Wrap with a bandage, and rinse the spot with lukewarm water in the morning. This mixture has been used against a variety of skin problems in the past.
The harmless skin tags are a result of skin friction and generally appear on the chest, neck, eyelids and face. They can be removed with natural remedies, and ACV can help in this case as well. The process is the same – just follow the steps from above. Tea tree oil has also been known to remove skin tags in a short time. Soak a cotton ball in it, rub the tags and repeat the procedure 2-3 times a day for about a month.
Putting a slice of fresh ginger on the tags has been known to help, as can a mixture of baking soda and castor oil that we mentioned previously.
The pores on our skin can easily get clogged by bacteria and dirt, which will result in numerous skin problems. The best way to clean them is with steaming. Pour water in a pot and bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer. Now, bend over the pot and let the steam hit and clean your face. Repeat the treatment every day until you notice positive results. A natural exfoliator of sugar and lemon juice rubbed on the face can also help, but we recommend steaming as the better method.
Age spots are, as the name suggests, caused by the aging process, although liver disease and excessive sun exposure can accelerate the development. They usually appear on the arms and the face, and can be easily removed in different natural ways. First off is horseradish – this powerful veggie can be mixed with ACV and applied on the affected area every day until the spots fade.
Lemon juice has skin-whitening properties and can fade the spots if used regularly, as can fresh Aloe Vera gel. Finally, rubbing the age spots with a fresh cut lemon has been known to help hundreds of people reduce the appearance of their age spots.
